Sports Vision
Eye Care Associates is the Sports Vision specialist to the athletes! We are proud to be the official team eye doctors and charter sponsor for the NHL Carolina Hurricanes. We provide sports vision screenings for team members and provide consultation and hand/eye coordination development as their exclusive eye care provider.
Services
Sportvision ExamThis exam tests every facet of an athlete's visual system. This looks at vision, vision correction, eye muscle alignment and ability, eye teaming, depth perception, visual memory, peripheral vision and ocular health. This produces a visual scorecard of the athlete upon which a program can be designed to improve any weak area. Sportsvision TherapyThis involves 40 minute intervals of exercises usually twice a week designed at improving any areas of visual weaknesses. Most programs last up to 3 months. Sportsvision CorrectionThis includes the fitting of contact lenses or sports eye wear that is specific to an athlete's sport. This is currently available at any Eye Care Associates office. |
Our Sports SpecialistsDr. Stephen Bolick has provided sports vision examinations to the Olympic athletes in the winter Olympics in Norway and the summer games in Atlanta. Dr. Michael Peters is our Sports Vision doctor practicing in our Wakefield, Zebulon, and Louisburg offices. If you or your child play sports and are having a hard time seeing the ball, please give any of our doctors a call. Golf ClinicsEye Care Associates holds golf clinics to improve visual alignment and visual function as they relate to putting and chipping. These clinics are held from 6:00pm to 10:00pm two evenings a month, and the fee also includes two sessions after the athlete graduates from the program. |
Sportsvision Screenings
Eye Care Associates currently provides screenings for many soccer, little league, high school and area teams. Stop by any of ECA's offices and talk with the office manager about signing up your team today.
Soccer
Soccer is a very visually demanding sport. The athlete has to see clearly and be able to shift focus near to far constantly. They have to change their gaze from left to right and up to down, keeping both eyes teamed together at all times, and use their peripheral vision to keep up with their opponent and surroundings. Eye Care Associates has specific methods to test for weakness in any of these areas, and can provide exercises to help the athlete perform at the highest levels.
Eye Protection
Eye Care Associates also has the latest in athletic eye wear to protect an athlete's eyes. Just think about it - a ball, a head and a piece of breakable plastic or metal in front of our child's eyes. We often seen many kids playing in their "everyday" glasses when they should really be wearing something that can withstand being hit with a ball or an elbow. At Eye Care Associates, we like to think safety and protection.
